Deeply disappointed
My time at Coláiste Fionnchua, Mitchelstown, was unfortunately defined by a lack of support, poor facilities, and an unmotivating environment. While every school has room for improvement, the structural and administrative issues here significantly impact student well-being and success. Lack of Mental Health Support: There is little to no meaningful support for students struggling with mental health. Emotional well-being feels like an afterthought rather than a priority. Unfair Recognition: Hardworking, quiet students who put in full effort are consistently overlooked, while recognition is disproportionately given to a select few. Inadequate Bullying & Discrimination Response: Serious instances of bullying and discrimination are rarely resolved effectively, leaving vulnerable students feeling unsafe and unsupported. Subpar Facilities: The building is overcrowded, outdated, and poorly maintained, with issues like roof leaks adding to an uninspiring learning environment. Limited Extracurriculars: Extracurricular activities and support are practically non-existent, leaving very few opportunities for personal growth outside the classroom. Poor Further Education Guidance: Guidance and support for higher education or post-secondary pathways are severely lacking, leaving students underprepared for life after school.
